Event Details

NEW MONASTICISM is a small but growing 'stream' within the wider emerging church movement. Although small, this ethos for being church has the potential to make a major impact on the landscape of emerging Christianity in North American, Europe and beyond. FIND OUT what it's about, and it's significance for re-shaping church and mission for today's culture.

LEARN how traditional mainline and evangelical congregations can GET INVOLVED in or be enriched by insights from the base-flow of this old/new, ancient-future stream of church. EXPERIENCE ways to integrate ARTS, NEW MEDIA and ANCIENT CHRISTIAN PRACTICES into worship and community.

BRING OTHERS from your church to this Learning Party with you.
You will be ACCOMPANIED by new monastic abbots and 'monks', from four 'emerging monastic' church communites: Apostles (Seattle) Monkfish Abbey (Seattle), The Simple Way (Philadelphia, PA). and Camden House (Camden, NJ). In the context of monastic hospitality, spiritual practices, prayer, conversation and liturgy, experience new ways to RE-SHAPE CHURCH for the contours of mission in today's culture, The New Monasticism Learning Pary includes LUNCH and ends with a 4 pm evening prayer service with Church of the Apostles. - If you have questions, contact Karen Ward, Abbess, karen@apostleschurch.org

The NEW MONASTICISM LEARNING PARTY is a one day Pre-Conference event, prior to the large "The Church has Left the Building Conference' Each event has separate registration. Attend one or both!
